Writing Wednesday | Prompt 58

Big news people! The Broken Curse has been released and it's release party/ free days have been AWESOME. We hit high on the mythology chart and got onto the fantasy and fairytales. I couldn't be happier with the amazing turnout and support from you all. So, a HUGE THANK YOU!

In other news... IT'S SNOWING in the Northeast. I'm at work, but I can't wait to get home and snuggle in bed, or play video games, or just watch a movie. I just bought How To Train Your Dragon 2. Anyone see it yet?
But first, LET'S WRITE.

Prompt Fifty-Eight- Word Search
Okay. So it's not a fun word search, but I'm giving you a few words and you have to create a short story using them. Here's the words: college student, crumpled paper, laptop, train. Go!

My response...

A strand of yellow hair fell in front of her face. She blew with her lip pouted out, refusing to tear her eyes away from her piece of paper. She had this amazing idea as she sat on the train. Girl meets boy, boy falls in love with girl, girl runs for unknown reasons, they make up and live happy ever after. The original idea was cliche, but she trusted in her skills to make it unique.

Hannah Capeman. Undercover detective by night, ballerina by day.
Margaret Atwater. Snarky stripper, med student.

She groaned at how dumb her ideas were sounding. She tore the piece of paper from the notebook and crumpled it in her palm. She stared at the balled up piece of paper in her hand and then threw it on the metallic looking floor of the train.

She looked up and her eyes caught with a man two seats in front of her, his seat facing the back, while hers was facing the front. They were light blue, almost gray with a slight squint to them that made her feel like she was being studied.

She averted her eyes south and rummaged through her duffle bag to find her laptop. She pulled it out and started going through her word documents, looking for a story she began not more than two weeks ago.

The man in the story had a striking resemblance to the man on the train. She had pinned a bunch of pictures to her make shift story board, trying to visualize the next man in her series of romance novels. As she flipped through, she snuck glances at the man in front of her.

He looked up from his large newspaper and grinned at her. She quirked her head to the side, unsure of why he was being so friendly. Most people on the train kept to themselves. Most were commuters, or everyday travelers. She recognized many faces since she too was an everyday rider.

"Do I know you?" she asked. It was quiet except her voice so it carried.

"No." She felt a strange sigh of relief resonate within her. "But I know you."

    1. I like to do that. Sometimes I revisit these and write a full novel! It's so fun.
